Boris Bally

Client

Boris Bally’s award-winning work is both witty and innovative employing the use of jeweler’s skills on non-precious materials. His current body of work transforms recycled street signs, weapon parts, and a wide variety of found materials into objects for reflection. These pieces celebrate raw American street-aesthetic in the form of objects, often useful, for the home and the body.

Challenge

The old Boris Bally website was not only falling behind in technology, but struggled to display the true image of his award-winning work with modern design trends.  The site included a non-mobile friendly design, an outdated flash gallery (not viewable on Apple devices), and the lack for a central backend for updating his ever growing portfolio of impressive work.

Result

We were absolutely thrilled when we were given creative freedom on this project.  When a client leaves us to the drawing board it allows up to create a captivating design with today’s trends. The new mobile friendly grid style design showcased Boris’ award-winning work with a refreshingly simple look and feel that makes the site easy to navigate.  Keeping the original cursive-based logo black with a white background gave the site a simple, elegant, and comfortable feel to it.  In order to keep the viewer focused on the portfolio, we implemented popup windows (modals) to quickly display project details without switching pages or having to go back to see other projects.  This project wasn’t focused on gaining leads through search engines or by other methods, however, monthly SEO management is in the cards for the near future and will target Boris’ creative niche so he can continue to dominate as the original recycled street sign maker.

This is a unique website which will require a more modern browser to work!
